[dropcap]F[/dropcap]lorida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is meeting with former UCLA offensive coordinator Mike Johnson today and Johnson is likely to become the Seminoles’ quarterbacks coach, according to a source.

Johnson spent 2012 out of coaching after serving as UCLA’s offensive coordinator and later interim head coach in 2011.

Johnson was an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers during the 2009-10 seasons, coaching quarterbacks and was given the offensive coordinator title in 2010.

A native of Los Angeles, Johnson played quarterback at Mesa (Ariz.) Community College and Arizona State before finishing his career at Akron. He spent five years playing professionally in the World League and CFL before entering coaching.

Johnson coached at Oregon State from 1997-99, serving as wide receivers coach in 1997-98 and quarterbacks coach in 1999. From there, he went to the NFL as an assistant with the Chargers, Falcons and Ravens before the 49ers. Most notably, he coached Michael Vick with the Falcons from 2002-05.

Johnson would fill the spot on FSU’s staff that opened when offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach James Coley left last month to become offensive coordinator at Miami.

It is not known whether or not Johnson would be given the offensive coordinator title.
