Campbell to join Dan Hawkins’ staff in Montreal

Ex-Iowa wide receivers coach Erik Campbell will join Dan Hawkins‘ staff with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes. Campbell, who spent the past five seasons on Kirk Ferentz‘ staff, was let go in December. Campbell coached at Michigan, his alma mater, from 1995-2007. Bobby Kennedy, who spent the past two seasons at Colorado, was named as Campbell’s replacement at Iowa last week.


Barlow tabs Andy Follett as Alabama State wide receivers coach

Alabama State head coach Reggie Barlow has named Andy Follett as wide receivers coach. With the hiring of Follett, Shannon Harris moves from receivers coach to quarterback coach, and Antonio Bradford will coach the offensive line and tight ends. On defense, Dominique Stevenson moves from coaching safeties to linebackers.

Last season, Follett was the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Millsaps College, and before that, he spent four seasons at Western Carolina (2008-11), the first three as receiver coach/recruiting coordinator and in 2011 as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Follett was the wide receivers and running backs coach at Missouri State (2004-07), and began his coaching career at the Nebraska-Kearney (1999-2003) as receivers coach.


Russ Callaway named Murray State wide receivers coach

Former Alabama defensive analyst Russ Callaway has been hired to coach the wide receivers at Murray State. In his role at Bama, Callaway assisted defensive coordinator Kirby Smart with the inside linebackers. Like Murray State head coach Chris Hatcher, Callaway is a former quarterback at Valdosta State. Callaway is the son of former UAB head coach Neil Callaway.


Old Dominion announces staff changes

Old Dominion head coach Bobby Wilder has named Rich Nagy defensive coordinator. Bill Dee will remain on staff and continue to coach the defensive line. Nagy was hired in December as defensive backs coach. He was the defensive coordinator at Western Michigan in 2012 and spent three years with the Broncos coaching the secondary.


McDermott will be defensive backs coach at Morehead State

Wes McDermott, a linebacker at Morehead State from 2006-09, has has been named the Eagles’ defensive backs coach. After graduation, McDermott spent time with three teams in the Indoor Football League — the La Crosse (Wis.) Spartans, Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Titans and Allen (Texas) Wranglers.


Orck named Presbyterian’s offensive line coach

Joey Orck has been named offensive line coach on Harold Nichols‘ staff at Presbyterian. Orck, A former Presbyterian player, Orck has been at Vanderbilt since 2008, serving in an offensive quality control role from 2008-10 and as a graduate assistant from 2010-12.
