Wife of former Colorado coach passes away

[dropcap]L[/dropcap]yndi McCartney, the wife of former University of Colorado football coach Bill McCartney, passed away Thursday. She was 70.

She had a 10-year battle with emphysema.

“We have four children and 10 grandchildren, and we all loved her very much,” Bill McCartney said in a school release.

The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 29.

McCartney coached Colorado from 1984-92. He holds school records for the most games coached (153), most wins (93), and most conference wins (58), and led the Buffs to a share o the 1990 national championship.

The eldest McCartney son, Mike, announced his mother’s passing on his Facebook page: “RIP Mom. I am who I am because of you. Love you.”
