Methodist head coach Dave Eavenson is stepping down to become assistant athletic director.

Emory & Henry (D-III): Vince Reese is the Wasps’ new running backs coach. Reese spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at D-II North Greenville, working with the running backs last season and tight ends in 2011. He was an offensive quality control assistant at Furman in 2010.

Bethany (NAIA): New head coach Manny Matsakis announced the hiring of his staff fat a press conference earlier this week. Steve Tapley will be offensive line coach and special teams coordinator, Jarrod Wirt will be defensive coordinator and Michael Starkey will coach the defensive line. Tapley, who was an assistant at Bethany from 2004-06, spent the past two seasons coaching in the high school ranks. Wirt coached defensive backs at NAIA Carroll College the past nine seasons. Starkey spent the last season at NAIA Southern Oregon.

Cornell: Satyen Bhakta has joined the staff. Bhakta, who played quarterback at Temple, spent the past two seasons as the defensive line coach at D-II Colorado School of Mines. He was defensive line coach at D-III Susquehanna in 2009-10.

Methodist (D-II): Head coach Dave Eavenson has stepped down to become assistant athletic director. Eavenson joined the Methodist staff 14 years ago and was named head coach in 2011. Associate head coach and defensive coordinator C.J. Goss will take over as head coach. Goss came to Methodist in 2005 after five years as defensive line coach at Brockport State.
