David Herbster named AD at South Dakota

herbster[dropcap]D[/dropcap]avid Herbster is no longer South Dakota’s interim athletic director. His title is now simply athletic director.

USD president Jim Abbott made the announcement Thurday afternoon, according to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.

“It’s a great day for the athletic department,” South Dakota football coach Joe Glenn said.

“He’s earned the complete support and respect of the coaches during his time here.”

Herbster, who has been with the school six years, became interim AD when David Sayler left in December for the same job at Miami-Ohio. He also served in that role when Joel Nielsen left USD in 2010.

A former Virginia Tech basketball player, Herbster was previously AD at Concordia of St. Paul and Nebraska-Omaha.
