Florida OL Jessamen Dunker will transfer

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]lorida offensive lineman Jessamen Dunker will transfer.

dunkerDunker met with Gators coach Will Muschamp on Wednesday and informed him of the decision.

“He and I just felt like he needed a fresh start,” Muschamp said. “He felt like he needed a fresh start and I didn’t disagree with him.”

The Boynton Beach, Fla. native was one of the nation’s most highly-rated offensive line prospects in 2012. He redshirted last season, but would’ve competed for the starting job at left guard had he been reinstated.

In January, Dunker was suspended indefinitely after he was arrested on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, a felony.

Dunker was pulled over while driving a scooter with no tag, and the scooter turned out to be stolen. His attorney claims that Dunker paid $600 for the scooter and did not know it was stolen. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license.

The charges are still pending, and the State’s Attorney said last month that he is still considering whether or not to proceed with the case.

In March, Dunker was again cited for driving with a suspended license.

“Obviously he’s got some pretty well-documented off-the-field issues and we talked about it and he felt like he needed a fresh start and I support him,” Muschamp said.
