Michigan State defensive end Jeremy Gainer will transfer

gainer[dropcap]M[/dropcap]ichigan State defensive end Jeremy Gainer is expected finish his career elsewheregainer.

Gainer, who did not go through spring drills, is expected to transfer, according to MLive.com’s Mike Griffith.

A source tells Griffith that Gainer attended the first team meeting of spring but didn’t practice with the team. He is not on the roster for tomorrow’s Green-White Spring Game.FBS school.

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Gainer was a 4-star recruit out of Detroit’s Clarenceville High in 2009. Rivals.com rated him the nation’s No. 15 outside linebacker by Rivals.com.

Gainer redshirted his first year in East Lansing, and has played in 28 games the past three seasons, mostly on special teams, making 13 tackles.

He was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
