Maryland-Virginia Tech won't play 2014 game at Ravens' stadium

[dropcap]Y[/dropcap]ou can scratch Maryland’s 2014 game against Virginia Tech that was scheduled to be played in Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium.

ravensThe Baltimore Sun cites multiple officials that the game is off the books as the Terps depart the ACC for the Big Ten following the 2013 season.

In August of last year, Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson told the Washington Post that he still expected the game to be played.

The Terps will play West Virginia at M&T this season on Sept. 21, and would and would to return to the Ravens’ stadium as soon as 2015.

“You know Coach (Randy) Edsall wants to be in the Baltimore market for recruiting purposes. Maybe Maryland rotates some of these games around so more Marylanders get to see these teams,” Maryland’s director of sports marketing Terry Hasseltine told the Sun.

In addition to several big-name Big Ten teams that could fill an NFL stadium, Maryland is currently scheduled to host South Florida on Sept. 19, 2015, Central Florida on a to-be-determined date in 2016 and Texas on Sept. 1, 2018.

M&T Bank Stadium is state-owned, and the decision to schedule a Terps game there is made by state officials, the school and the Ravens.
