QB Marquise Williams re-enrolled at North Carolina
[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ighly-recruited quarterback Marquise Williams is back in school at North Carolina.
Williams, a former 4-star member of the Tar Heels’ 2011 recruiting class who was No. 2 to Bryn Renner last season, was not enrolled in school this spring due to academics.
He’s back in school now for UNC’s first summer school session, team spokesman Kevin Best confirmed to the Charlotte Observer on Friday.
Williams redshirted in 2011, and played in nine games last season. He completed 10 of 17 passes for 127 yards, and rushed for 186 yards on 29 attempts.
The Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek product was rated the nation’s No. 9 dual threat quarterback by Rivals.com.
After missing spring ball, Williams will have to work to do to regain his spot behind Renner. Mitch Tribusky, a 3-star signee in the 2013 class, enrolled early and made a big impression during the five weeks of spring practice.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound numbers in the spring game weren’t spectacular — 10 for 18 for 149 yards and two interceptions — but he showed the arm strength, athleticism and mental makeup that helped him shoot past redshirt freshman Kanler Coker to No. 2 on the depth chart.
