Two Illinois players kicked off team

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]llinois coach Tim Beckman has dismissed two players from the team, including the Illini’s second-leading receiver.

Darius Millines, a senior wide receiver, and Darrius Caldwell, a redshirt sophomore defensive end, have been kicked off the team for unspecified rules violations, Illinois sports information director Kent Brown confirmed to the Associated Press.

Millines (5-11, 185) was suspended from the team indefinitely in early March. He caught 32 passes for 319 yards last season and was Illinois’ No. 2 receiver behind fellow rising senior Ryan Lankford, who totaled 469 yards on 37 catches.

As a redshirt freshman last season, Caldwell played in all 12 games and made 17 tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Millines was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2010 out of Boynton Beach (Fla.) American Heritage School.

Also a 3-star prospect, Caldwell (6-5, 230) signed with Illinois in 2011 out Mays High School in Atlanta, Ga.
