Cal defensive lineman no longer with the team

kaufusi[dropcap]C[/dropcap]al senior defensive lineman Keni Kaufusi is no longer with the team.

Kaufusi, 6-1, 285, was listed as No. 2 on the depth chart at defensive tackle behind starter Mustafa Jalil.

He had a quiet career for the Bears, playing in just 16 games over three seasons, but was expected to provide solid depth this fall for a defense already short on interior linemen.

No reason was given for Kaufusi’s departure, but  a source indicated it was related to academics.

The Salt Lake City, Utah native started three games in 2012. He totaled 10 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss last season.
