Oregon State's No. 3 QB Richie Harrington transferring to Southern Utah

harrington[dropcap]O[/dropcap]regon State reserve quarterback Richie Harrington will transfer to FCS member Southern Utah.

Harrington will be a sophomore with three seasons of eligibility left this fall. He tweeted his decision to move on Monday.

“I will be transferring to Southern Utah to play football for the Thunderbirds,” he wrote. “Ready for a new chapter.”

Harrington, 6-1, 224, is a former walk-on from Westlake Village, Calif. He appeared in three games last season for the Beavers, and completed 6 of 9 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown.

The battle for the starting job this season is focused on junior Sean Mannion, who started most of last season, and senior Cody Vaz, who played well filling in for Mannion, prompting Harrington to move on in search of playing time.
