TCU cornerback David Jenkins dismissed from the team
[dropcap]L[/dropcap]ess than a year after transferring to TCU from LSU, cornerback David Jenkins is no longer part of the team.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department issued two warrants for Jenkins’ arrest on suspicion of burglary charges, and he turned himself in Thursday night.
Horned Frogs coach Gary Patterson confirmed to TCU360.com that Jenkins has been dismissed from the team, writing in an email to the website that he was “very disappointed” in Jenkins’ actions.
The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Jenkins was originally from Jena, La., but moved to Texas in high school to live with his sister, the wife of Dallas Cowboys’ defensive lineman Jason Hatcher. He became a 4-star recruit at Hebron High in Carrollton and signed with LSU.
After redshirting at LSU, Jenkins left the program late last June for unknown reasons. He sat out the 2012 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
Jenkins was expected to be a significant contributor this season. He ended spring practice No. 2 on the depth chart behind junior Kevin White, but many expected him to eventually win a starting spot.
