Texas QB Connor Brewer will transfer
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]exas quarterback Connor Brewer is looking for a new home.
A 4-star member of the 2012 class out of Paradise Valley (Ariz.) Chaparral, Brewer was a January enrollee and redshirted last season.
Brewer was arrested in February for misdemeanor alcohol related charges, but Dennis Gile, his former private quarterback coach said Brewer’s minor brush with the law had nothing to do with the decision.
“What the final, final straw was, I’m not sure. I don’t know if he was getting the absolute fair shot there,” Gile told the Dallas Morning News. “He’s got a guy in front of him that’s going to play at least two more years. They are making a big thing about this Swoopes kid and him being the future of the program. As a kid that’s playing there that probably deserves to step on the field, at least next in line to Ash, I would feel the same way.
“There’s no reason for him to just stay there and sit when he can be the starter somewhere else.”
Brewer (6-2, 195) committed to the Longhorns in February 2011, choosing Texas over the likes of Alabama, Stanford, Miami, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas A&M, LSU, Arizona and many more.
