According to reports, Creer and the other fans appeared to be intoxicated.

After the fight was broken up, officers took Creer under the bleachers to speak to him about the incident. An officer then grabbed Creer by the arm and he pulled away, prompting the arrest.

He was charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest.

“If he would’ve just gone along with the program, gave us the information that we needed and cooperated with the officers we would’ve probably just removed him from the stadium,” Acree told the Tribune. “But it didn’t work out that way.”

Creer was transported to Champaign County jail and later released after posting $150 bond. He was serving probation after he was arrested for criminal trespassing of an ex-girlfriend’s property in January.

Scheelhaase finished the game 13-of-21 for 103 yards and an interception. With the loss, the Illini fell to 3-4 and 0-3 in the Big Ten.
