Jeremy Fowler of CBS Sports reports that UConn has requested an interview Narduzzi about the Huskies’ coaching vacancy.

We reported yesterday that should Texas dump Mack Brown, they could pursue some big names like Nick Saban, Jim Harbaugh or Jimbo Fisher.

Now, sources close to the situation tell us a decision on Brown is likely to drag out for a few days. Most believe Brown won’t go willingly. In other words, if Texas wants to make a change, it could be ugly.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Florida State may still be vulnerable to losing Jimbo Fisher, even though he has agreed to a contract extension.

CBS’ Jason La Canfora reports the Redskins could pursue Baylor coach Art Briles when Mike Shanahan is officially shown the door.

The Dallas Morning News says that Briles is likely to stay in Waco.

Rumors continue to circulate that the Texans could pursue Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin.

Wake Forest has interviewed Bowling Green coach Dave Clawson. Clawson’s team won the MAC title by defeating Northern Illinois on Friday.

Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann gave coach Kyle Flood a vote of confidence. Then, Flood fired three assistants, including defensive coordinator Dave Cohen who had been accused of bullying.

New Wyoming coach Craig Bohl will be paid a base salary of $750,000 a year at the start with the opportunity to earn up to $1.2 million with incentives. His contract is for five years.

CBSSports.com’s Bruce Feldman reports that Arkansas State coach Bryan Harsin is interviewing for the Boise State job today.

The Idaho Statesman reports that Broncos linebackers coach Bob Gregory will also interview for the job. Gregory and associate head coach Chris Strausser are believed to be the only two in-house candidates being considered.

Other candidates include Washington defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox, Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter and Harsin. All three have ties to Boise State.

Jon Gruden won’t pursue any NFL or college jobs and is committed to ESPN for 2014.

Parents of Rutgers player who quit team following bullying incident call school's statement 'insane'

The parents of a Rutgers player who quit the team following an alleged bullying incident involving Scarlet Knights defensive coordinator Dave Cohen have responded to a statement released by the school on the matter calling it “insane.”

On Friday, Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann released a statement responding to an NJ.com story about the alleged bullying that led cornerback Jevon Tyree to quit the team.

The Tyrees objected to several of the points outlined in Hermann’s statement, including the assertion that Mark Tyree, Jevon’s father, met with Hermann on two occasions following the incident.

The statement said Hermann spoke to Tyree’s father and “confirmed that the matter was resolved to his satisfaction.”

“I never talked to her. That is insane,” Mark Tyree told NJ.com. “My mother has passed and I would put my hand on a stack of Bibles in her goodness. That’s ridiculous that she would even say that. That’s scary.”

Jevon Tyree claims that Cohen got in his face during an April study hall session and called him a “pussy” and a “bitch” and threatened to head-butt him. Tyree said the incident, which was was witnessed approximately 10 teammates and a tutor, led to him being ostracized from the team and eventually quitting on Nov. 6.

Tyree and his parents have sought disciplinary action against Cohen.

In its statement, Rutgers said Cohen apologized “the following day for his participation in the escalation of the banter” and head coach Kyle Flood reprimanded him.

The statement also said that “at no time was there any threat of physical violence, which was verified by an academic counselor, who was present in the room,” but when asked to make the counselor available for questions, Rutgers refused.

Tyree’s parents told NJ.com that they had meetings with Cohen and Flood, but remain unsatisfied by what they consider an insufficient response by the athletic department. They said that they have “never” spoken with Hermann.

Mark Tyree said he first attempted to reach Hermann after Jevon quit the team on Nov. 6. Until then, Mark Tyree wanted to handle his concerns directly with Flood and Cohen.

“We didn’t even want this to escalate to the athletic director,” Mark Tyree said. “We were trying to keep this in-house, that we could make it so it wasn’t a big deal. I wasn’t trying to go to the (university) president and the NCAA. I was like, ‘Hey, let’s try to resolve this.’ ”

News of the incident comes just seven months after men’s basketball coach Mike Rice was fired for bullying his players.

The Rice scandal led to the resignation of athletic director Tim Pernetti and a housecleaning in the Rutgers athletic department.

[dropcap]R[/dropcap]utgers head coach Kyle Flood has completed his staff.

On Monday, Flood named Ron Prince offensive coordinator and Dave Cohen defensive coordinator. Flood also announced Norries Wilson has gained the title of assistant head coach and Anthony Campanile has been promoted to a full-time offensive assistant.

Prince comes to Rutgers after spending the last three years in the NFL, while Cohen is being promoted after spending 2012 as the Scarlet Knight’s linebackers coach.

Prince replaces Dave Brock, who left after one year as offensive coordinator to become the head coach at Delaware.

Prince, who was head coach at Kansas State from 2006-08, was offensive line coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. He held the same role with the Indianapolis Colts in 2010-11.

He last served as an offensive coordinator at Virginia from 2003-05 after working as the offensive line coach in Charlottesville for the two seasons prior.

Cohen spent last season as linebackers coach. He previously served as defensive coordinator at both Delaware and Hofstra, and replaces Robb Smith, who left earlier this month to become the linebackers coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Wilson was promoted after being hired as Rutgers’ running backs coach last season. He was as head coach at Columbia from 2006-11, and coached at Connecticut before that (1999-2005), working with the offensive line for three seasons before being promoted to offensive coordinator. As a player, Wilson was a captain and two-year starter at Minnesota.

Campanile moves up the ladder after joining the staff in the summer of 2012 as a defensive assistant. The former Scarlet Knight safety and linebacker (2001-04) previously was the offensive coordinator at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, N.J., leading the Ironmen to NJSIAA Group IV State Championships in 2010 and 2011.

Flood added Darrell Wilson to his staff as the secondary coach last week, filling a vacancy that was also created by Smith’s departure. Wilson spent the past 11 years as an assistant at Iowa.

[dropcap]D[/dropcap]arrell Wilson, who spent the last 11 years at Iowa, is the new defensive backs coach at Rutgers.

It will be Wilson’s second stint at Rutgers. He was the Scarlet Knight’s running backs coach in 1999.

He fills one of the voids created when defensive coordinator and secondary coach Robb Smith left a week ago to become linebackers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Indications have been that Kyle Flood will promote Dave Cohen from linebackers coach to defensive coordinator.

Wilson, who played at UConn, served as the outside linebackers and special teams coach for Wisconsin in 2000-01 before moving to Iowa, where he has been in charge of linebackers, special teams and, most recently, the secondary during his stint with the Hawkeyes.

Following Wilson’s hiring, the Rutgers staff has two open spots. The Scarlet Knights are also short an offensive coordinator after Dave Brock left to become the head coach at Delaware.
