Dino Babers will be named head coach at Bowling Green, according to an ESPN report.
Babers’ up-tempo, spread offense attack helped quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo pass for 5,050 yards and 53 touchdowns, winning the Walter Payton Award as the top player in FCS.
He succeeds Dave Clawson, who was named head coach at Wake Forest earlier this month.
Babers was an assistant at Baylor under Art Briles, where he coached Robert Griffin III, and has also been an assistant at UCLA, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, Arizona, San Diego State and Purdue.
Bowling Green also talked to LSU offensive line coach Greg Studrawa, Sam Houston State head coach Willie Fritz and Florida defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin.
