The college football career of Oregon State wide receiver Kevin Cummings may be over following wrist injury suffered sometime during the first half of the Beavers’ 20-12 loss to Stanford on Saturday.
It’s possible that the senior could return for a bowl game, but that will depend on his recovery.
“It’s bad,” Riley said on losing Cummings. “I really will miss him. He was such an easy guy to coach with his experience, his savvy and his investment was huge. These guys that are coming in have to really step up to fill that void.”
In his absence, redshirt freshman Malik Gilmore and senior Micah Hatfield expect to shoulder a heavier load.
The loss is bad for Cummings, too. After making just 28 catches in his first three seasons for the Beavers, he began to emerge as a go to receiver in clutch situations this year.
Cummings had 23 catches for 254 yards through eight games this season. Thirteen of those 23 grabs went for first downs.
