[dropcap]T[/dropcap]emple and Boston College will trade linebackers coaches.

Former Temple inside linebackers coach Sean McGowan will leave the Owls’ staff to join his former boss, Steve Addazio, at Boston College.

Meanwhile, Mike Siravo, who spent the past six seasons as the defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Boston College, will return to Temple to join coach Matt Rhule’s staff as the Owls’ linebackers coach.

McGowan, whose relationship with Adazzio dates all the way back to when McGowan played for Addazio on a state championship team at Cheshire High School in Connecticut, spent the previous two seasons at Temple. He had continued working on Rhule’s staff since Addazio left to take the Boston College job back in December.

Prior to Temple, McGowan worked at New Hampshire for seven years, including four seasons as the defensive coordinator.

Prior to joining the UNH staff, McGowan worked at the University of New Haven before the school discontinued its football program. He spent the 2003 season as the defensive coordinator at West Virginia Tech.

McGowan, who played college ball at Fordham, began his coaching career at Division III Occidental College where he served as the quarterbacks coach (1998). He then moved on to Pittsburgh as a graduate assistant for three seasons (1999-2001). McGowan was then named defensive coordinator at Duquesne (2002), where the defense ranked first in total defense in I-AA.

This will be Siravo’s second stint at Temple. He coached the Owls’ linebackers and was recruiting coordinator in 2006. He was instrumental in assembling Golden’s first recruiting class that included future NFL players in Steve Maneri and Andre Neblett.

Siravo played linebacker at Boston College from 1995-97. He began his coaching career at BC in 1998 as a recruiting graduate assistant and then was defensive GA for the 1999-2000 seasons. Siravo coached linebackers at Columbia for three seasons from 2003-05.
